Modern methods of treating stomach cancer in foreign clinics

In the early stages of the disease, specialists at gastric cancer clinics abroad offer the patient surgery to remove the neoplasm and nearby lymph nodes; in more advanced cases, treatment includes chemotherapy and radiation (radiation) therapy to reduce the size of the tumor and make it more suitable for resection.

For the treatment of stomach cancer in clinics abroad, many innovations and scientific advances in the field of medicine are used:

Minimally invasive surgery

Minimally invasive surgery for stomach cancer

In South Korea, Israel, Japan, stomach tumors are removed using endoscopy. This modern technology allows you to remove the tumor through almost invisible incisions. During the operation, the patient feels less pain, recovery is much faster. The goal of doctors with endoscopy is to preserve most of the organ while keeping it functional.

Immunotherapy

Clinics in Japan and Germany are conducting research on the genetic vulnerability of cancer cells. Based on these data, for each patient, drugs are individually selected that can slow the growth of neoplasms, minimizing side effects.

Israeli scientists are developing the molecular profile of tumors. On their basis, an individual immunotherapy program is drawn up for each patient, which is effective even at the fourth stage of cancer.

Radiation therapy

It can be used before or after surgery. Cancer cells in the stomach are destroyed by exposure to radioactive X-rays. Medical centers in Germany, Israel, South Korea offer sparing methods of radiation therapy, in which radiation acts only on the affected tissues, practically without affecting healthy cells.

Positron Emission Tomography (PET)

Allows you to accurately determine the location of the tumor and its metastases, track the effect of treatment.

Gamma knife

Gamma Knife for Oncology

Makes it possible to destroy tumor cells without surgery using targeted exposure to radiation. The precision and high intensity of the radiation helps to get rid of the tumor in just 5 - 6 sessions.

Diagnostics of stomach cancer in clinics abroad

Diagnostic of stomach cancer abroad is not only the diagnosis, but also the establishment of the spread of the affected cells, the location and size of the tumor.

Important! The most informative method for diagnosing cancer is biopsy (removal of a piece of tumor tissue for histological examination). For example, in American clinics, the diagnosis of stomach cancer is made only after a comprehensive examination of a biopsy specimen, a material obtained as a result of a biopsy. A biopsy is performed under anesthesia, the procedure is absolutely painless.

Other methods are used to diagnose stomach cancer:

  1. EGDS (esophagogastroduodenoscopy). It makes it possible to see the defects of the gastric mucosa, to establish their location and size;
  2. Endo-ultrasound. With its help, it is possible to determine whether the tumor is operable, to calculate the depth of growth of the neoplasm into the walls of the stomach and other organs, to determine the state of the nearest lymph nodes. The study is carried out under general anesthesia;
  3. Computed tomography of the abdominal and chest organs. Determines the presence and location of metastases;
  4. Gastroscopy and laparoscopy. Determines the spread of the tumor and metastasis in the abdominal cavity. It takes place with the use of special tools and a micro-camera for internal visualization of the process;
  5. General analysis of blood and urine, blood tests for tumor markers.

Remember! When a tumor is removed, it is often necessary to remove the stomach completely (gastrectomy) or partially (resection). After the operation, the patient stays in a medical facility for 5 to 14 days.
